HIGH RISE FAMILY LIVING
Back when the world wasn’t such a crazy place, we were contacted by a client to give her family home a refresh and help her to make it the cosy and practical home she wanted for her family. After recently moving into the apartment and binging a lot of their furniture with them, they wanted some help to make it all work in the new space as well as add some key pieces and give it all a bit of love. The brief was to use as much of the existing pieces as we could but to make the rooms feel more comfortable and relaxing, but most importantly to give her girls bedrooms a much needed make over. Our vision was to make this family home feel fresh, welcoming and comfortable and give the girls the bedrooms of their dreams!
There were so many different spaces to this home that we wanted to make sure that we treated each of them with some love, including the entrance. This area was a blank canvas so we added some storage for shoes in the form of a gorgeous console from Marina Home Interiors and styled it with a bouquet of faux flowers also from Marina Home, the gold trimmed round mirror from The One finished off this space.
The downstairs areas of the house are all the family living spaces, we added soft furnishing, accessories and textural elements to ensure that these spaces felt more relaxing and warm. The cotton pendant lamp from Urban Nest added a soft element and the art from Etsy gave the room a touch of colour. The office space was an added element to the house to allow more work from home, the desk is from Objekts of Design, accessorised with a JYSK chair, art from Etsy and lamp from Home Centre.
The girls bedrooms is where we really had some fun! The brief for this room was a space for an animal loving girl. We customised the jungle themed wall sticker from E-walls (which is a great alternative to wallpaper when renting) and accessorised with a rug from Overstock, safari tent from Smallable, pendant lamp from Tribe Dubai, Fiona Walker animal wall hangings from Bowery Company and greenery from Bloomr.
The second kids bedroom we did was a pastel inspired teens room. We added a desk area just in time for home schooling! The desk and chair is Ikea, wall hanging from Maison du Monde. The wall stickers are custom made from E-walls. Bedspread and accessories from Pottery Barn.
The master bedroom was one of my favourite spaces in the home. It has the most INCREDIBLE view over the water and was a really generous space. We wanted to create a parents retreat that felt calm and warm. Using the existing couch, we turned it to face the view, added sheer linen curtains from Ikea to give a soft and subtle light to the space, added this stunning rug from Overstock and a coffee table from Pottery Barn. The dressing table is a favourite Ikea hack of ours which uses two Ikea Malm dressers and an Ikea kitchen worktop (cut to size) to make this very practical dressing area. Chair is from Home Centre and the mirror from The One. The custom artwork by Shaimaa Ahmed over the bed finished this room off beautifully.
